The Best Day Trips From Houston

No comments :
The idea of Road tripping with your friends or family is really enticing, especially if you’re going to a place like Houston filled with great adventurous destinations that offer good food and scenic beauty in a seamless combination. Here are a few travel destinations I recommend without breaking your bank.

Take a dip in one of the most beautiful natural swimming holes. I guarantee you that the first time you see the Hamilton pool, it will take your breath away. This nature made swimming hole is carved out of limestone with a 50-foot waterfall. Its water is relatively cool and the water reservoir doesn't dry up even in times of drought, which is great if you’re planning to go there to cool off in the summer. Pro tip; better plan ahead because chances are, other people will have the same idea. Online reservations will cost you $26 per carload which is worth it because you have the beautiful swimming hole for yourself for half a day.
If you’re travelling with your family, you might find the Blessington Farms, a nice place to check in. The Farms, which is located in Simonton, TX (about 48 miles from Houston) offers a wide range of activities such as picking your own Pumpkin, Strawberries, Blueberries and Blackberries (great activity for the kids and adults alike) the farm will provide the baskets for your picking pleasure which would cost you $5 (a bargain if you ask me) the admission fee includes fishing, a petting zoo, hay rides and other great activities.
For those looking for a day trip that’s mixed with cultural and historic institutions, then, Galveston is the place you’re looking for. With 20 art museums, 14 museums and several historic houses and mansions, you can get a rare chance of history unfolding here. After going to all of the Museums and Historical landmarks, you can watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico and trust me, this will take your breath away.
This is for the nature lovers out there. Big Thicket National Preserves is one of the most beautiful National Parks you could visit in Houston. The park has about 40 miles of hiking trails. While walking through the trails, you will be able to see different types ecosystems inside the park. You can also go Canoeing or Kayaking inside the park. The park provides two different paddling trails: The 21 mile Village Creek Paddling trail and the 5 mile Paddling trail. You can also do Bird watching inside the preserve with its wide array of bird species that either live inside the preserve or migrate through it.
