4 Essential Travel Safety Tips You Need To Know
Travelling in a foreign country is already a daunting experience in itself. But with numerous reports of tourists being robbed, you need more than just a map and a few slang terms to get by. Here are five essential travel safety tips to ensure your travel experience is a pleasant one.
1. Avoid distractions from strangers
If anyone even a kid, approaches you pretending to ask for help with something suspicious in their hand, stay clear of them and protect your valuables, as this may be a distraction to steal from you.
2. Always ensure that your belongings are secure.
Protect your travel items and avoid broadcasting them; what seems of less value to you, may be of exceptional value and temptation to someone else.
3. Blend in with the locals
While it’s okay to travel with your most prized camera, clothes or shoes, it can make you easy target. Try to stand out less by dressing like the locals and preferably leave your valuables at home.
4. Avoid public demonstrations
Although peaceful demonstrations may be the norm where you’re from, it might not be the case in an unfamiliar country. You could get robbed, injured or risk losing your visa.
